Starting in C major and gradually ascending by fifths until completing a full circle of fifths, this is a collection of 24 preludes composed following J.S. Bach’s 《The Well-Tempered Clavier》. In the preface of this book, Akutagawa wrote: “I have tried to write them so that adults, as well as children, can find enjoyment through these 24 pieces.” Indeed, each piece is captivating for adults as well. Akutagawa, who has also worked on children’s songs and drama music, has composed a selection of works that are easily approachable. Despite being labeled as “for children,” these pieces possess a modern essence that shines brightly and should not be underestimated.
