Edward Elgar

British composer. Without formal music education, he taught himself how to play and compose. He established himself as one of the leading composers of British music with 〈Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 36, “Enigma”〉. Elgar was 42 at the time. mezzopiano）〈In Smyrna〉. It’s a plain piece, but I was drawn in by the transparency at the beginning and was obsessed at once. The Arabian-style melody that appears everywhere is also characteristic. After all it is the work that can be convinced that Elgar is a melody maker. 〈Piano Quintet Op. 84〉 is also good. A beautiful and mysterious thing in 1st movement.
