Overview |
In 1932, he composed for his education when he was appointed Director of Music Education in Brazil. 11 volumes in total. He is based on folk songs and children’s songs collected in the Brazilian hinterland around 1905. Each volume contained over 100 pieces, but only a few are now available. There are also notes such as “No.111” and ”No.131” on the sheet music, and there are traces that there must have been more than 100 pieces in each volume. Currently, only 5 to 7 musical scores for each volume remain, and the number of recordings such as the complete piano works is also based on that number. Although it is only short pieces, it is a rich collection of works full of the charm of Villa-Lobos. It is a pity that only a part of it remains. |

A gentle start, as if the morning sun had begun to appear faintly. [5] ~ Play the inner voice with expressive eyes, as if there is an instruction of “O canto bem saiente expressivo“. The tempo is a little slow (♪=92). Is it the various animals (including humans) that have started to act at dawn? It is a bright and soothing melody. On the other hand, the second half, which is modulated to a minor key, can be imagined as a dark part where the morning sun does not shine much. The simple contrast between the first half (F major) and the second half (f minor) is characteristic, but syncopation and triplets are used in the upper left hand voice, and the fine fluctuations of the rhythm bring expression to the piece. *・・・”Vióla”… It seems to refer to a small Brazilian guitar, not the viola, which is a member of the violin family. |
