Heitor Villa-Lobos
1887-1959
Brazilian famous composer. He was surrounded by music from an early age, with his father, who was a music lover, teaching him.
At the age of 16, he left home and joined an orchestra to improve his playing skills. At the age of 20, he entered the National Music School, but after half a year, he quit school and went on a musical wandering journey to various parts of Brazil, gaining various experiences. At the age of 28, he had the opportunity to publish the works he had written, but his music was largely unacceptable and unacceptable to those around him.
After that, he met Darius Milhaud and Arthur Rubinstein, and was greatly influenced by them. Villa-Lobos, who began to be understood by those around her, moved to Paris, France at the age of 36, where she met artists and was introduced to publishers through Rubinstein. He toured around Europe conducting his own works, and his stay in Paris for seven years was very fulfilling.
After returning to his home country, Villa-Lobos devoted himself to the development of music culture in his home country, Brazil (sometimes to the point of causing trouble!). He encouraged boys and girls to sing in chorus, established an orchestra, and established a music academy, emphasizing the importance of music education.Villa-Lobos is one of Brazil’s leading composers, who has created more than 1,000 works throughout his life and has been active not only in Brazil but also in various parts of the world, establishing Brazilian classical music and gaining international acclaim.
